Ice Cold Designs from Greenland
"Because strength comes from honesty and the ability to tell your story further."
There should be no trivial routines because life is simply too short. The products, infused with Greenlandic inspired design, offer significance to everyday activities and whisper a good story to be told further.
An artist and an activist for climate change of the 21st century, authentic and unconventional Lis Stender, empowered by a strong need to affirm herself through her ingenious spirit, develops modern designs with a Greenlandic twist.
Having an interesting upbringing led her to expressing a powerful will to unleash her creativity and mold it into drawings with a strong Nordic vibe. As she strongly believes that art should not get all dusty in museums, she gets inspired from her land’s culture in order to knit the old with the new.
"Use the beauty everyday."
Compromising is not a word existent in her vocabulary as Lis Stender avoids at all costs the mass-production exploitation techniques, through deflecting the use of child labor and cheap materials.
Owning an original Lis Stender product allows you to have, not only a piece of Greenlandic culture right in your living room, but also a symbol of the cold fight for environment’s protection.

Global warming is a big problem for everybody around the globe. This issue is even bigger in Greenland. The locals of Greenland despretly see the huge icebergs melting in front of their eyes without being able to do anything to stop it. The locals of east Greenland state that they see less ice from the Arctic Ocean than earlier and both scientists as well as tourist guides report that in certain areas of the country glacier heads are pulling back year after year. Sailors all over Greenland say that the sea ice is shrinking day by day. Moreover, they state that the ice is 1 meter thinner today than it was earlier.
Lis being a Greenlander herself, is trying to do everything in her hand to change the fate of her country. Stender is using only sustainable materials for her products. A percentage of the revenue made by the products goes directly to scientists helping with global warming. Buying one of Lis' products means you're directly helping with global warming.
"I share my time working in a lot of different projects and areas, traveling in the nordic countries and in the world. Most of all, I like to find good quality design that is based on real needs, and that have an unique touch. I am very happy that I have met Lis. Everyone who has seen the products, they love them and want to have them. So, the only thing I can say it that I deeply want to recommend the design. "

"The design gives a new and a timeless expression of some of Greenland’s amulets. All our guests from both home and abroad have good comments on the textiles. Here at the Hotel Arctic, these textiles together with our Greenlandic art in general, create a feel-good sensation for our guests’ stay."
